Sweet and sour

So, I was walking back from CVS with a bunch of bags, and on my way home I head towards the library. These two kids, 10 and maybe 13, are walking ahead of me and sort of arguing about something - the younger one almost comes back towards me, then stops and goes back. And then after a little bit he came back towards me and asked if I needed any help.

It was incredibly sweet, and unexpected, and it really made my day.

On the other end, I'd been communicating with CDS (dining services, where I work) several times because I knew I hadn't been paid for some of my work. Nothing happened until the last time I emailed them, when I cc'd the head of CDS. Then the student employment person finally checked the time cards. It turns out she "missed" 25 HOURS of my work. That's $214. And I'm certain that's not even all that I've not been paid for. It's insane.

gun control

This is a brilliantly written article, attempting to explain to the educated of Europe why 32 deaths by a legal gun purchased with minimal safeguards will have no effect on the gun-happy of our country:
"It is part of the national religion...To gun-control advocates, this [that concealed weapons permitted on the Virginia Tech campus would have stopped the shooting] is self-evident madness."

I'm such a Jew

CompUSA had CDs on sale for 90 at $10, and DVDs for 50 at $10. I need neither - I have plenty of each. So what did I do? I bought both. Because they were cheap.

I am going to finish my fucking wolf and make it into a pillow before I leave Kansas City, god fucking damnit.

I watched the end of Titanic tonight. I'd never seen any of it before. It's awful, thinking about it. How do you act when you know you're going to drown and there's nothing you can do? What do you do when you see children with no way out? The half-empty lifeboats didn't go back. They let the people die out there. How...how do you do it?

Needless to say, I cried. A lot.

How the hell can a person go to work in the morning, come home in the evening and have nothing to say?

Sun, May. 29th, 2005, 03:39 am
This is the last one tonight, I promise - and from now on, no more

I ran into Blake Goza at blockbuster tonight. it's nice when people recognize you and actually seem pleased to see you

I love the title of the Shins song "Caring is Creepy"

This day felt like a million years

Feif, I finally finished that diary. It's funny: I didn't start it till January, I didn't keep a diary first half of this year. But on the other hand, it only covers 5 months. Fastest of any diary I've had so far.

and to make matters as bad as they can get, from the trailer it looks like they fucked up the sisterhood movie, especially the part about lena. Alexis bledel isn't a) gorgeous, b) at all greek-looking, and i think they got kostos totally wrong. plus, they'll prob. want a happy ending, so they'll make the part about bridget end happy, which it totally doesn't in the first book. god fucking damnit. jesus fucking carpenter. what the fuck is wrong with my life?

at least i know the meds are working cause i'm not actually feeling suicidal for once. wheee!

These books have so much wisdom

"What was it about little sisters smashing their heads?"
My sis has had stitches three times on her head - twice in like the same place on her forehead, once on her chin

What's Your High School Stereotype?
created with QuizFarm.com

I like that I'm only 50% geek. Of course, it helps that I was answering half for high school me and half for current me - and those are two pretty much totally different people, as some of you know.

Yay for 5 a.m.!!! Seriously, if anyone at Oberlin is awake at 2, please please PLEASE come up here and yell at me to go to bed, and maybe even close my computer half way or something. I need to stop doing this.

Good news: I have two boxes fully packed, and am starting on a suitcase. Bad news: I packed really poorly, putting all my clothes in one box, which makes it a lot harder to pack other, more fragile stuff, and I may have packed stuff I can use for work this summer, so I may need to partially unpack one box.

1. Reply with your name and I will write something about you.
2. I will then tell what reminds me of you.
3. If I were to apply an o'clock to you, it would be...
4. I will try to name a single word that best describes you.
5. I'll tell you the most memorable moment I've had with you.
6. I'll then tell you something that I've always wondered about you.
7. Put this in your journal.

Let me warn you though...I'm really bad at coming up with words
